WMC5 First Alert Weather Examine App

I open your app and the radar is a black screen with only the location dot and supplement pieces with no map. It’s been doing this for some time. I’ve had your weather app since I got a smartphone many years ago, but no longer!

We have a weather forecast that varies widely across parts of the state

This app can be good but it can also be a pile of peanut butter dog licking maggot chewing piece of kitty litter because it comes in handy but it also does it at the wrong time so it’s mid and that’s why I gave it three stars.

Everything works great. I’ve just noticed the last month or so, the 24 hour futurecast only shows radar up to a certain point and then lags. My app is up to date and it doesn’t matter if I’m on WiFi or using phone data. It does it anyway. Please fix.

The app is fine. It’s exactly like the competition’s app which is good also. It’s the amount of talking on a weather alert that both annoys and amuses me. We don’t need to hear every time “This is Chief Meteorologist blah”. Time could be of the essence with these weather alerts. Imagine having an ego so large you have to let your viewers hear your name and title when a tornado could be seconds away from blowing them away. The competition just states the alert which is all we need or want to hear.

Had been using accuweather for a while glad to be back. Need to add rainfall totals on hourly forecast. Keep up good work and be safe in good ol mempho

Why don’t weather people look outside before they forecast current conditions. Sun shining yet forecast is clouding & rain. So frustrating!

I really like The Action News 5 weather app. But open the satellite map is not updating. Also, often the app will not work on my phone or my smart tv. The videos are not updating in a timely manner either. There needs to be some sort of update to fix these bugs.

Not sure why my alert videos are from ark/ la when I have my location set for s Florida

Your weather app has been an important part of my daily information source. So many days lately, your weather radar map shows NO weather at all over the US. That’s why I have had to depend on other sources for my weather fix.

Please fix the radar it is very inconsistent at times

You’re latest version makes me cancel the app then reopen it for the predicated forecast. It used to be a great app. It’s very glitchy now for the forecast and protected forecast.

I’ve use this app for years and I loved it. The last three or four weeks I can’t get the radar to work properly it flashes on and off. They seem to be having some problems with it.

This weather app used to be great, now it’s trash.. it’s never consistent and doesn’t give you a clear forecast. It has gotten my hay wet more than what I like, so I don’t recommend it at all!

After an automatic update, the system will not run the radar loop. I have to back out, close it, reopen and relaunch each time. I have tried to delete and reload it, but it still doesn’t work. I used the weather channel app, it has the same radar, just not able to set notifications and color on it.

Great coverage during last storm

I normally don’t write reviews; however, I think the storm coverage on 3/31/2023 deserves a review. Ron Childers and Spencer did an ‘outstanding’ job in bringing minute by minute coverage, area by area, as the storms and tornadoes roared throughout the mid-south. My family and I live in the 38125 zip code. I absolutely loved it when Ron told each area they had 30 min, 1 hr, etc before the storm headed their way. He then stopped and said when the time came to go to your storm shelter and ‘take cover now.’ No other station in the Memphis area was as thorough, energetic, passionate, and concerned about the people everywhere. Spencer also demonstrated the same attributes. AWESOME job Ron and Spencer! You have my vote that NO ONE does it better!

With the tornado outbreaks that passed through March 31 this app kept me updated with breaking updates. Even if my phone was idle on a table, Ron Childers’ voice alerts you when you need to pay attention. We’ll done channel 5 team! Appreciate all you did last night. 🙏💕

During storm last night I could not get the live streaming. Had good cell and WiFi.

It’s impossible to find the Closed Caption option on your weather & news videos. This is a GREAT DISSERVICE to the hard-of-hearing & deaf people in your viewing area.

The latest update took away the ability for me to get notifications no matter where I’m at. Now I can only get locations based on my home. I was able to get locations based on where my kids live, Charlotte and another area close to Memphis, not anymore. For some reason now I don’t have Ron Childers telling me what the notifications are I just get a bar notification that it opens up to a video. I do not like this update and I think it is a backward step for your app. I will be looking for another app to use for my local weather.

I really love the weather reports and humidity

Not sure how I missed this app when looking for a weather and radar app. Love the dark color, radar is clear and enlarges well. The info is clear. It is a keeper. Thank you for a great job

Ron and his team are always right on time when bad weather is about to hit Chanel 5on your side

I liked this app better when we only got alerts for bad weather. All day long this thing sends me alerts. It’s too much. I just want bad weather alerts.

Way too many ads cluttering the page.

Was trying to see if my house was about to get leveled by a tornado and had to sit through about 60 seconds of ads

Weather personalities are top notch at WMC5. The high standards of the Dave Brown era continue with Ron Childers and company!! Even though I now live outside television station coverage area, I still use WMC5 Weather app!

Since the last update very time you pull up the radar it’s overly cluttered with alerts and warnings. Map is so cluttered you can’t see the rain. You can go to the menu and deselect all the items you don’t want but you have to do that EVERY TIME you want to see the radar. RIDICULOUS !!! I’m in Memphis I don’t care what the tropical alerts are or many of the other alerts! GOTTA FIND A NEW WEATHER APP!!!!

The overlays are just annoying, and now with the last update in October 2021, the overlays all reset and turn themselves back on every time the app gets closed out. They no longer keep their settings. Bad app programming and design.

It is my “go to” to check the weather, heat index, etc.!

Love the app, but don’t like getting notifications every 3 minutes for a thunderstorm especially at 3 AM. I have to turn off notifications to get any sleep

Too much info crowded onto iPhone screen. Prefer a simpler layout.
